Dr. Rawat talks about all the aspects of Forestry in a vast country like India and talks about the innovative solutions that The Forest Services have taken up in order to ensure sustainable development.

He discusses the importance of forest’s biodiversity. Dr Rawat also suggest how ventures like ecotourism can help to bring developmental benefits to forests while protecting Indian forest’s endangered species such as tigers and the Musk Deer. “The main challenge is to strike a balance between development, and protecting our rich biodiversity” he says.

Dr.RBS Rawat summarizes the various levels at which he has worked and contributed prior to his current position and he states that his personal opinion is that it is essential to strike a balance between environmental stability and development in India. He takes an example and describes the local situations present in Uttarakhand, India and about the different approaches make practices in Biodiversity conservation a success. Mr. Rawat also talks about a Project that links local people in Uttarakhand to Eco-tourism by providing them employment and recognizes if this roadblock is overcome, the he is confident that a solution can be achieved.
He talks about the importance of these schemes in bringing an upheaval in the Ecosystem, and recharging the natural environment and resources. He summarizes saying that the way forward is to establish a link between the people and Environmental conservation efforts in order to bring about a long term change.
